I wouldn't underestimate laser technology, it will get better and better. The US military is experimenting with laser technology as we speak, especially with Lockheed Martin. They've already developed a ground/ship-based laser turret "ATHENA" which has already conducted shoot-down tests against drones, and Lockheed Martin also mounted a laser turret aboard a private jet and the USAF wants them to build a compact laser for future fighters. And lasers don't have to totally obliterate their targets out of existence. Lasers can simply cause enough damage to the target that renders it inoperable, like during the drone shoot down tests, the laser was always targeting a control surface such as a tail to send the drone out of control which eventually crashed. I think lasers will work in multiple modes of fire, such as firing at a lower setting just enough to wreck havoc on electronics of the target, or it could use a more higher setting that renders the whole target inoperable, or it could waste all of it's energy in a single blast that destroys the target completely.

3RD: Gonna build a weaponized version of my mega-space plane for the USSF Space Force ;)
Get ready boys, Rainier's gonna build the biggest baddest space plane! Gonna make 2 variants, the first one, the main prototype will act as an ISS replacement, while the second, is gonna be more of an orbiting "battleship" and will be armed with a laser turret for intercepting ICBM's and a railgun for orbital bombardment. ;) It's customer: The USSF, aka Space Force! :P

5.6 years agoI think Jundroo would want to keep it "civil n' chill" with SR2, but I think we can expect a weapons mod down the line.

Well guns, missiles, bombs, rockets, etc. can still be added into SR2 for those who want to build atmosphere-bound aircraft.
But for space craft, I would LOVE to see lasers and railguns, and maybe even pulse/EMP-weapons.

5.9 years agoYeah I know, I was just saying it would be cool if SP planes could be carried over to SR2.
I smashed that button, and now I need a new monitor...
Can't wait for SR2! I'll probably still stay with SP for a very long time, but it would be cool if you could bring builds from SP into SR2.
