methalox is just balanced between the easy storage but high density of kerolox and the high efficiency but low density of hydrolox, that's why many of us use methalox because it doesn't have major tradeoffs, it's balanced
generally methalox (thats what i always use personally), but also many other people use methalox in general, hydrolox for bigger crafts, and xenon for ion engine people, you should also probably add kerolox just in case
i haven't updated the game yet due to certain reasons, is the flare color completely customizable with colors? (like, with a color wheel or something)
@Luckwut
nah, sorry, Mortan and MortanBonus were always solo things
i only really needed help on VBSS because i completely ran out of ideas on how to do Europa and Enceladus
@StarDominatorIIVV
if you want to heat up parts without using air resistance, simply get a rocket engine and blast it on the parts you wanna heat up, you will also most likely need a way to counter-balance the engine's thrust
this has happened to me too multiple times, i literally have the part(s) connected to a fuel tank (yes, i checked, fuel tank, not strut or anything else), and it still displays that message, tho usually reloading the craft tends to fix it
boy are you in for a treat, i've made a post on it a year ago, it has all the necessary instructions to get there from DSC, alongside coordinates and pictures
@LeaveUsAlone vanilla overload is already in the game, added like 2 updates prior i think?
to access it, simply go to the part properties on the selected part, scroll down to tinker panel, and on the bottom there should be a button "edit hidden properties" or something like that, hit that, and there you go, that's overload
H2O has more density which means its heavier but also means you can pack in more fuel, and since it's literally just regular old water it's hyper cheap
LH2 is expensive and less dense which means you can't pack as much of it in a fuel tank, but makes your craft lighter due to the low density which will definitely make a huge impact
as for efficiency, idk which is best, but generally, if you wanna "save" cash then use H2O, but if you wanna go full weight reduction bro, then use LH2
another thing i've found is using the atmosphere fog shader and bumping up its height scale parameter to like 50 so that it wraps around the whole star rather than like a half or 2/3rd of it and increasing the "intensity from space" parameter to a suitable value which will make them look like they are glowing without actually giving off any light in the "dark side", idk if somebody has done it before me but it's a handy workaround for sure, the only real downside is that it means you can't put designs on the stars, making them only appear as a colored sphere, but that generally shouldn't matter too much
@sacr3dbac0n0
it's fine, multiple people are okay too
for enceladus, if you do wanna go ahead, i'll give you the base body (with biomes and size), just try to make it close as possible to the real design using noises and anything similar (ofc it doesn't have to match the irl pattern, just make it look like those shard canyon things)
@SamTheFox
yea, it would be nice to have something (maybe make it so we can select ground scatter per biome, so for example trees in grasslands, cacti in deserts, rocks in oceans and mountains, etc.) tho i imagine this would take a while to implement and would be pretty laggy (i'm 100% sure they'd add the ability to disable them completely though)
nice
my father has a decently good telescope but neither him or me have used it in years, i'd probably use it if i could but i can rarely go up to his room since he's busy working
@Gen3ralInterstel1ar
making a 1:1 juno is really easy, you just need to multiply the sizes by 5 and maybe adjust some terrain gen elements
and if you want me to make it for you then just tell me
damn, the Taurus revamps looks lit, i'll miss the old one tho, they should've kept the original yellow color (yeah, obviously, i can just edit it myself, but its just not the same)
yes, DSC is the "new space center"
and no, the satellites are like little communications dishes scattered around the planet, best way to find them is to just open droo in planet studio and find them using the structure menu
@geotorum
from my experience, expressions are the most complicated part of PS planet building, you can do lots of mathematical things, there's things like pow, smoothstep, clamp, etc etc
one thing that makes them infamous though is that messing even the slightest bit of the expression up will make your planet go all random, usually resulting in spikes, holes, repeated patterns, etc.
unfortunately there's no guide for expressions i know of, and even the built-in mini-guide barely talks about them
and really, i reccommend you stay away from them unless you use them for simple cases, i mean i consider myself a mid-high-end planet builder (below the likes of Ylias, eyov2, or chillymations, but above most others) and i still barely use them
i like it, yes, but there's no way in alpha centauri that my laptop will be able to run it even at minimum graphics at anymore than 10 seconds per frame
i believe for bloom to actually work you need to turn the HDR setting as well, thats what i did and im pretty sure thats what made the bloom actually do anything
paneling, lots and lots of paneling

sorry
yeah, true
2.7 years ago@TronicOrbital
nice, i have my 100% custom Titan already (definitely one of my best creations) so yeah i don't need it unfortunately

2.8 years agoboy are you in for a treat, i've made a post on it a year ago, it has all the necessary instructions to get there from DSC, alongside coordinates and pictures
2.8 years agoit's probably doable just by some decent but not too major modifications to the martian template tbh

also revamped Taurus and a few other celestial bodies, and both jet and rocket engines have new sounds

there isn't really a true beginning tbh
2.8 years agoeither way, i'll upload enceladus now, you don't need to rush btw
@SamTheFox
nah, please don't, i'll provide the basic form and i'll tag you on an unlisted

that's the mountain village, it was added somewhat recently
2.8 years ago@geotorum
there's probably a mod for it somewhere, but there isn't any in the stock game

2.8 years agoi don't like trying to find which id out of the 500 i need to pick
@SamTheFox
the XML editor doesn't show anything that would allow me to change input
2.8 years ago@SamTheFox
how exactly do you change it? is it the same as in SP?
2.8 years ago@SamTheFox
i know about that one, but i specfically need the little thrusters that normally produce thrust with rotation and translation controls

go faster
