there will be two mobile versions, the "full" version and the "lite" version with restricted features (similar setup to many mobile games in the early to mid 2010s)
the full, paid-download version is identical to the single mobile version before the "split" — players who already had the "old" mobile version automatically get the paid version (the old mobile version has already been renamed to the paid version, though it's called "complete edition" or something like that)
the lite version is a free download but has restricted features, similar to a demo version
however, on the free version you can pay IAP's to unlock various content from the full game, there are four of these: one for more career stuff like more launch spots and missions, one for allowing customization of procedural parts like rockets and jets, one for more sandbox mode stuff like tinker panel and in-flight cheats, and one more that removes in-game advertising (iirc you will get ads while launching, downloading, and uploading crafts) and maybe does a few other things
purchasing all 4 IAP packs on the free version will result in it matching the paid version — however, getting the paid version is slightly less expensive than buying all 4 IAP's together on the free version
the free and paid versions have their own files, meaning data does not transfer over on its own, though you can upload and download crafts and whatnot
both game versions will recieve updates that come to the game (as of writing, version 1.3 is in development), and for the free version the developers will probably balance out which of the features added in these new versions are IAP-only and which can be available to use freely
@Hyperant oh, this isn't even the biggest i've planned
there's still the LH90 which, even for having an in-universe size class of "Large", is only around 300 to 500 m long (essentially it's at like high-end cargo ship length) but i don't have an exact size for it yet, so with the exception of some of the enemy alien spacecraft (most of which they just stole and/or reverse engineered anyways) the spacecraft in Hypernova are of a much tamer size compared to other scifi
@SeeyaTheFurry yup
but man there's still a long way to go before i get the lore to be as hard as i want it to be... i gotta redesign like 5 or 6 different alien species so that they no longer look like humanoid animal+animal hybrids, gotta eliminate 2 fictional fuels (Valagama and Cypernis — JRX stays because haha funny 50k kelvin liquid that can be used as rocket propellant and weapon ammo) and then try to signal to the readers that, no, there is no sound in space, and no, we are not turning like in an atmosphere, we are in orbits and we gotta do funky rotations if we wanna get anywhere (or just go so fast that the gravity isn't enough to make you orbit the celestial body and instead you can ASTRO DORIFTO through space)
to my knowledge there aren't a lot of household "meme" crafts like the GC over here, i'd say the closest would be something like Androo, and you might find some meme builds occasionally popping up on the front page
the mobile version doesn't support mods due to various policies set by both Apple (iOS) and Google (Android), it's a limitation we can't really do anything about
from what i've heard over on SimplePlanes is that the built-in wheel suspension is supposedly terrible, but again, this was from the previous game and it's entirely possible that the built-in suspension in JNO is actually decent or even excellent
that said, though, using both probably isn't a good idea
well, the questions about the "complete"/"full" (or whatever it was, can't remember) version of the mobile game have finally been answered
i'm curious about the details of the different pricing bundles (their costs and what they give) but i assume one could check it out in-game
i'd say go ringless, or maybe a thin ring i guess
you should show a pic with a normal ring texture (even if just the one that Urados uses) rather than the placeholder ring, it'd probably help with making the decision
it runs fine on my ipad which by this point is 6.5 years old, and that's on around mid level graphics
it crashes a decent amount, but tbf i kinda need some "induced game crashes" just to remind me so i don't get overconfident
the controls are alright, but since i came from SP 7 years ago it's understandable that there's a lot of overlap between the two, and sure some parts of the UI can be a little janky (looking at you, AG panel covering up the joysticks) but it's not that big of a deal
to make cracks, use noise type Cellular, there will be two settings next to it
the first one can be "Euclidean", "Manhattan", "Natural", and "Euclidean No Overlap" — out of those, the first three are all suitable, but Natural is probably going to be the best
for the second option, use "Distance 2 Sub", the rest work differently, though some may give similar results
for the noise itself, a frequency of 5 to 100 (or even beyond) usually work best, and adjust strength as needed
you may also need domain warps or a remap curve to make them look better, but those are more advanced things and for basic cracks they aren't really needed
ngl, i feel like i was partially responsible for this :(
i used an unusual way of linking an image in one of my posts and i think that was what broke the site the first time since it coincided with the initial downtime
when the site came back like 3 days later i checked on it and it was still there but i didn't do anything else, a few hours after that site broke again for like a day, then i realized that i might be the cause, so the next time the site worked i went to that post of mine and got rid of the image and replaced it with a link
so yeah sorry guys, i was stupid :c
@ZeusSpaceAgency basically, lite versions are just simple versions with the most basic stuff and the rest is locked, usually free so that players can test the basics of the game before deciding if they wanna buy the full paid game or not
for JNO i'd assume the lite version would just have a few basic parts (one capsule, a fuel tank, an engine or two, parachute, maybe some fins too, alongside reduced part customizability maybe?) and only Droo as the planet
@SeeyaTheFurry same here
recently i've become obsessed with this game called Einhänder and can't stop talking about it, combine that with my ongoing Terraria addiction, and, well...
@SatelliteTorifune yeah
just as an example, i planned to make a career version of my interstellar galaxy system thing, the only idea i had for it was that for the first "mission" one would be given a very overpowered (lightweight, high thrust, indestructible, infinite fuel) spaceplane for free so that one can freely explore the system first to get a grasp of what to do or where to go — of course, this would be impossible since you could easily discover landmarks or earn milestones or whatever, though maybe it's possible to temporarily disable those while doing the mission, idk — only then followed by normal missions
i was planning myself to make a career version of some of my own systems, but decided not to because
1. no easy way to do it, and there most likely won't be an easy way ever
2. takes up too much time for me
3. i genuinely don't know what i'd add to make it fully fledged out lol
oof
my mother had a somewhat similar incident quite a few years ago, though it was only the turn signal light that was destroyed i think
still, hope you can get this sorted out 👍
there will be a switch, in the tab where you set the planet size and stuff, it's called like "enable surface physics" or something like that (should be directly above or below the "fade skybox dueing daytime" one), switch that on
glad you changed it, the huge text was kinda uncomfortable to read, the smaller one will be much better (tbh though you should just use normal text though with no formatting)
@PZLAerospacesAgency Teegarden's Star
red dwarf 12 lightyears away, has 2 planets and both have VERY similar size and mass to earth, one being in inner habitable zone (almost hot zone) and almost earth sized, while the other is in outer habitable zone, is a bit bigger, and has Mars-like temperatures
i might make some of my own tbh
at the moment though, my ipad isn't connected to the internet due to an oversight (should be fixed today, for now i'm just typing this on my phone), which is also why i couldn't post the last 3 better templates yesterday like i planned
yeah the assymmetrical poles (usually caused by billow or multiridge noise, FBM makes them normally) are really annoying even tho they could look really cool, especially the flowy veiny one (it is possible to only make those ones appear, but that likely needs 2 seperate noises, lots of filtering where the noise should and shouldn't appear, etc)
aside from that, i think it'd be cool if you made a guide to craters, they share some similarities with the remap curve (that being their shape, allowing for higher or lower ridges, a flatter or sloped bottom, and even central peaks, which end up looking either absolutely spectacular or a turd, there's no in-between)
also another thing:
some of the other things in basic arithmetic — subtraction, multiplication, division, etc — can be emulated in the expressions by using their symbols — minus (-), asterisk (*), slash (/), respectively, for the above mentioned ones — however it may not always produce the same results as basic arithmetic
but as said below, there's also a few others, like pow (exponents; idk if pow(x,y) works the same as x^y, haven't tried it), clamp (from what i know it seems to "fix" a range within 2 numbers? it's kinda hard to explain, not sure on that one), the min and max stuff, i've even seen sin and cos being used, which is far away from my knowledge
IT LOOKS SO CLEAN
