So, what’s it like here?
I’m a SimplePlanes player exclusively. I do not own J:NO. Even if I wanted to buy it I simply wouldn’t have the time to play it.
SimplePlanes.com is a fun little community with its own culture, characters, and history. There’s memes like German Corsair. There’s well-known figures like, say, LunarEclipseSP, 32, Majakalona (who’s also on this site, I am aware), RepublicOfCursedPlanes, Monarchii (good comrade), DatTrainGuy19, a whole pile of barely-indistinguishable-by-name numbered players, and many more (possibly including myself, however I can’t look through the eyes of others so idk). There’s little echoes of past dramas and phases and whatnot, players that have been banned or stopped playing, landmark creations, etc. etc.

What does this site have? Does it have equivalents to German Corsair, crappy craft that explode in popularity and come to define a whole style? Are there prolific users that can often be seen leaving comments, game-relevant or not, on tons of posts? Have there been particular phases or dramas? I need da drama.

Considering this is SP.com’s mirror, and they share accounts, it struck me how very little I know about this place.

Just curious.

We have half the lore of SP and a lot of of it takes place off-site (from what i've experienced, discord.) Unlike SP where the game peaked before discord was really a thing, people would congregate on the site. Now people use what they want. It's entirely different is what I can say. There are no real equivalents but there are still "events" that are called back to sometimes. The only comparison I can think of is the sheer number of P-51s on SP and Starships here. Who would've guessed :P

Its a bit bleak here at times but try the discord site if youre feeling too lonely.
Discord is also better for questions I hear as its only me and a few others replying to questions here and Im not good at code.
Just know a few bypasses.

There are some role-play companies on this site, but they are rather rare, especially when compared to the early days. Meme builds are also not too common, but you do see rather unorthodox builds quite a bit, such as a flying house or an anime girl. Low effort posts are surprisingly uncommon, and many builds are cleverly optimised. There was a trend with Starships at some point, so you could probably find a lot of them.

Drama really doesn't happen here, and it almost always has been rather meagre.

to my knowledge there aren't a lot of household "meme" crafts like the GC over here, i'd say the closest would be something like Androo, and you might find some meme builds occasionally popping up on the front page

I should probably mention that, assuming this stays up, it may take me some time to see any replies as, y’know, I don’t use this site.
I’m sure I’ll remember eventually!
