@Buddycat do you mean an engine that runs on just electricity? They already added ion engines and that’s as close as you can get.
Simply put a rocket engine throws mass out the end and uses the recoil to push it - and the craft- forward.
Electricity doesn’t (really) have mass so you can’t push it or use it in a rocket engine. Technically you could have an electron beam or a photon beam but at that point the engine is effectively a LED torch and the thrust would be pretty much negligible.
A better and realistic way to get “infinite fuel” would be to have fuel collection from mining planets surface or harvesting their atmosphere or oceans. And I believe this is already planned or in development
