oh absolutely, captured, binary even, its theoretically possible for a gas giant to have a gas moon, just cant bee too close to its parent star.

@Pedro I'm talking about making it so that light can come from things other than the main body/star and isn't constant to other celestial objects so it fades, it is kinda complicated to make that work so it would be very impressive to see even a mod for that, than again, principia for KSP exists.

@RichGWall I'll try and make the sibling moons of each object the proper mass to make everything habitable, this is actually kinda similar to the Sirius-B system in ED where it has way too many habitable planets, but in theory, this is possible, it may not look right cause you can't have multi-star systems but hey whatever.

Mainly chose an F-type star cause it expands things out a little, give you a little more space and a wider variety of worlds, this will be in no way completely realistic, just as close as I can make it, anything in an orbit too close to something else will be resonant, or perfectly the same but ahead or behind in the orbit.

Edit: I also need some things to base the generation of specific surface and cloud formations so anything for that would be really helpful with this.

Sometimes I feel like someone will randomly come out with an actual cloud mod for this game, or a mod that simply makes specific objects a light source if stated to be one, and make light fade at distances for objects.

@SamTheFox Oh I thought you meant by a form of tidal lock

@SamTheFox interesting that it's gravitationally bound, that's one of the things I didn't expect to happen.

@HorizonsTechnologies yes, I forgot about eclipses.

Ok, done some math with the sources from NASA and multiple others, and found that a red dwarf would be 417000000 meters and a white dwarf would be 7000000 meters (since they are roughly the size of the earth)

@SamTheFox no like, I'm trying to find the radius of a star from it's solar mass and class, which I have found no sources of, not calculators, nothing. It's really fucking hard to find stars in elite dangerous like this, and most of them are several KLy away.

@SamTheFox so, when I try and load a ring in-game, it doesn't even render the png, not even in map or vessel view from far away. One thing I saw whas an error occuring when I load urados into the editor, it said that it couldn't load the ring image for it.

@SamTheFox good to know, I will try and deal with the lighting effects when I do work on a galaxy.
