16:1 over 4 sets of gears.

Drive gear are 12 tooth.

Inside Ring gear are 192 tooth.

Red teeth are on the final drive ring.

120 rpm from one motor drives the entire thing. 120 rpm speed limit on that, else the gear teeth go out of whack just from speed :/ Physics is GREAT (to a point of course :))

Lifted 8.2 million kilograms. Once I build a tighter lift arm I'll upload that so you can try for yourself 🙊

NOT ONE THING TINKERED!
Built 100% in the game's designer, no mods.

99% Struts, guaranteed sturdy! 1 motor, use slider 1, forward or backwards. The other motors are set up as bearings only. Teeth are not calculated but it's close. I'll make some better, tighter ones that are calculated and put it in a much smaller package so it's useful soon :)

This was a failed experiment turned into some awesome insight about gears. I'll definitely be testing the force multiplier factor, see if that holds up lol.

Oh yeah, no calculators either except (7/2)/2 once and then to calculate the final drive. Otherwise nada. It started as only 1m gears and just grew. One more stack makes 1,048,576:1 but the tooth mesh isn't good enough for it 😞🙈🤷🏼‍♂️

@AverageJoe yeah that sucks! I know the feeling though. Over the last 5 years I've slowly upgraded from a cheap $20 tracfone to a slightly nicer phone my friend gave me, to a $100 walmart phone(also a Moto) to what I got now. Each step of the way it's gotten better at handling the kind of games I play(I also play stuff like PUBG, Real Racing 3, CodMobile, and Minecraft occasionally). I started playing SR2 on my last phone, and it worked great, but I had to leave most of the settings a lot lower than this phone can handle.

It's basically like a bargain phone for $30 with a 8" screen. It just starts to "hang" on selection and edits in the designer. It could probably handle a higher part count loading but making edits wouldn't be enjoyable 😕 it's a store brand too so it has all the Walmart apps stuck in it I can't uninstall and those eat up power in the background all the time. Even has a special 4th button on the main controls that opens the Walmart shopping app 😤 but it'll do @YaMomzBox420

@AverageJoe oh yeah, and you can do xml on mobile too, it's just a little weird. There's some tutorials and stuff on youtube, I just haven't gotten that into it(most of them require third party software, etc). Also, there's the Dev Console if you know how to mess with that(ie cheats and hwatnot) but I also haven't bother with that other than taking a peak at planet studio when it first came out

@AverageJoe yeah, I know the feeling there lol. I started on mobile, so I'm more used to it, but after trying the game on PC(I haven't even gotten around to mods yet, just what's available for mobile is amazing on PC), I find it difficult to restrict myself with mobile. And yeah, part management is key! If I can make something with 10 parts that works just as well as something with 100 parts, then that's the goal(however, I have been getting a little more into detailing, which takes more parts to get just right, so maybe finding a middle ground between low part count and realistic levels of detail is best). And did you say 350 parts? Is that when it noticeably starts to slow down, when the game starts to crawl, or when it outright dies? My phone must just be a beast because I've played with 1500+ part crafts and it only slows or stutters when too close to structure like at the DSC. I was one of the primary mobile testers of the True Reuse Falcon 9, and I was able to produce accurate, useable data for the team developing the craft. I am on a 2020 Moto G Power though, so basically I have a 1980s era supercomputer in my hands lol 😎

It's what I'm being reduced to but yeah I've got a large laptop that's just not practical for where I'll be spending time, but this game and building keeps me sane 😂 so that's what I'm doing to make it work for now. I'll still get the laptop out because I can't leave the XML alone anymore but it'll do for the rest and make me better at part management because this Walmart so called tablet can only do well up to about maybe 350 parts 😕@YaMomzBox420

@AverageJoe yeah, I've been thinking about it... Just don't have the money at the moment(it all goes toward basic survival and bills at this point), or I would've already done so. I've been wondering if I could use my Xbox One controller(I don't have an Xbox unless you count my PC 🙃 but I do have a controller because it's compatible with everything) with this game, but it's in storage at the moment so...😵 And I do have a Bluetooth mouse, but it has the usb chip that it connects to, so I'd have to find a nicer one to use it with my phone lol. And yeah, my PC is a 2-in-1 laptop, so I got the best of both worlds: a full on PC setup with all the bells and whistles, as well as 15.5 inch 4k touchscreen (and built in smart pen) that works like a high end tablet. It's just not very portable because of the size and battery demands lol, so your Walmart tablet idea is actually still pretty good. I might do that for an "intermediate" experience

Have you looked into like a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse (like the Anker a7726 slim and a Logitech m535) I'm going into a non permanent living situation myself today and that's my Walmart tablet set up. Works exactly like PC but with the bonus of the selection Gizmo 👌@YaMomzBox420

@AverageJoe not sure what you mean by "sticky fuel tanks", but yeah, I figured it would be possible as long as you could get the gears just right. You could even use vizzy to make it an automatic transmission and add features like "cruise control" using a PID

    2.4 years ago
  • Profile image

A fully functional transmission is possible, with a clutch. Remember sticky fuel tanks? That's actually the secret to making it useful 😂. I'm working on something now and I'll make a demo model in a bit @YaMomzBox420

@AverageJoe 🤯 That sounds awesome! I wonder if we could make a "multi-geared" transmission (like for a car) using this as a base? O.o

Oh yeah! I had to figure this out for my next build 😂. I've got to 6 parts and it handles about 223 tons so far using a .4 m drive and a 7 m output. I'll upload it before long.@YaMomzBox420

    @AverageJoe hmmmm such precision! 🤖
Yet another reason I wish I could just leave my PC set up 24/7(I don't have a permanent place to live so...) and use it for this game. Mobile is great and all, but the UI is a little clunky and it takes forever and a day to make something that only takes a few clicks on PC.

I could see this being very useful for a number of applications including cranes, elevators, heavy transport vehicles, etc. Also, it would be even more useful if it's possible to use it the other way (low RPM/high torque to high RPM/low torque) to get higher speeds than a motor by itself. I've been working on something that it would be perfect for in that case, since the motor by itself can't even get close to the rpm I need

I just figured out how to make any gear ratio in any size (logically of course) with only 7 parts per set 😳so this could be made with around 40 parts and much smaller with the same outcome @YaMomzBox420

I'm getting about 500,000 kg lifted, beyond that it's not happening. It's too much weight and just pulls through the gears 🙊 design limits. It moves any weight to a point it pulls itself apart but I'll need a different design to get more weight 🤷🏼‍♂️ But for a puny little electric motor and no calculation, just wedges and chopped wedges for teeth, I'd say it's quite impressive for what it is.

2.02 million kilograms is coming off the ground with the old roller bar set up. So much side pressure from weight and the torque of the final drive it can easily rip itself apart 🤯, especially when what it's lifting gets a physics hang, it's twist and pop 😂

Some killer stuff I can make with this 🐒

Nope it came up and torqued apart again 🙈 I'll make a new rod with four sides. This thing will pick it up I'm going to make it happen 👍

Looks like I'm doing more math 😂. Going to make some more gearboxes. With a little tighter and better made lifting mechanism, it will lift 8.2 million kilograms 🤯 @YaMomzBox420 it keeps breaking itself apart when ever it starts to sway and get hung up in another part but it does it on the same single motor and nothing tinkered 🐒

I've got a good way to lift now. 66,000 kg no problem. 147 kg torque lifts an empty tank at 66,000 kgs 🤯

8,115,000 kg on the scale, test in progress... 🙉🙈 Millimeters to go

1000 kg lifting rod is just put in place. Didn't even slow it down 🙊 bet it picks up 6 million kilograms at least

If the load test goes as planned I'm thinking I could probably get 291,600:1 or so in the size of a space capsule, maybe slightly larger. It's about double challenge over this and will require exact math or will only keep binding 🙉. So load test first so I can see if it's worth the effort. @YaMomzBox420

Thank you. I'd double check into that what os or iOS do you use? Most likely your best solution is to get into the dev console and type the command to turn it off. You have to check wiki or forum to find which command but that would definitely do it @FriendlyFin
