History

The Niwanian struggle
During the 30s aviation technology advanced rapidly, this was acknowledged very late by the Wolfranian Air Force, which in one of the worst ways realized that their main fighter was heavily outdated.

It's 1936, Junkeia invades the newly formed state of Niwania, the Wolfranians decide to defend Niwania.
K-31s are sent to stop the Junkeians equiped with their Hu-35 fighters, this proves a huge mistake. The Hu-35 was a low wing, all metal, closed canopy monoplane armed with four 8mm machine guns and powered by a 12 cylinder engine. Compare this to the parasol wing, mostly wood, open cockpit, barely armed K-31, and you can easily guess how these encounters ended.

A new fighter
A new design is needed, requiremenets are sent, and by 1937 the first prototypes are flying, B&M Fenkend (B&M Toolings) wins against the Yunner Fenand GK-36, and thus the K-38 Kyfu is born.
Powered by a PATSO V12 33L inline engine the K-38 proved to be faster, more agile, and had better visibility than the GK-36.
Initially it was described as a mad horse by pilots due to lack of proper training, but once in the hands of trained pilots it proved deadly to the enemy.

The K-38 was retired in 1953 in it's K-38-IV Dai variant
