DESCRIPTION
Real Terrain Solar System, or RTSS for short, is a planetary system which aims to recreate the real Solar System in SR2 using satellite imagery.
DOWNLOADS AND INSTALLATION
To download, don't press the download button on the top of this page; use one of these links below to choose which version you want to download instead. If the link for some reason downloads an image instead of an .sr2 file, it isn't my fault, it is the game's fault for using the same format as Sony for its files.
16384x8192 | 247MB
8192x4096 | 142MB
4096x2048 | 98MB
Those numbers are the dimensions of the satellite images used to make real celestial bodies. The higher they are, the more details on the planets you will get, but the poorer your game's performance will be. You need at least 4GB of RAM for the smallest resolution and at least 8GB for the largest until I figure out how to optimize the textures.
After clicking one of those links, you will be prompted to download a file with the .sr2 extension. Open it and the game will install the system by itself. To play in the system, create a new sandbox and select RTSS from the list.
CHANGELOG
v1.2.1
-Fixed rocket yeeting itself at launch
v1.2
-Added Mars
-Added 16384x8192 textures for Earth and The Moon
-Reduced banding/pixelation on The Moon's maria visible at sunrise/sunset on the 16384x8192 version, it is still a problem on lower resolution textures though
-Set launch site to the equator
v1.1
-Changed the name to RTSS
-Now has two versions with different texture resolutions
-Fixed subdivision induced terrain banding that was visible during sunset, although bit depth induced terrain banding is still a problem
v1.0
-Initial release
KNOWN ISSUES
-Some parts of Earth have grass/sand when they don't in real life
-Parts of Earth are flooded where they shouldn't be and vice versa
-Planes get yeeted when launched from runway
-The wrong side of The Moon faces Earth
-Earth has the wrong atmospheric pressure
PLANNED FEATURES
-All of the major Solar System bodies
-Terrain textures
-Optimizations where possible
-Small scale terrain features
-High detail terrain near the launch site

Hello Can we make a Ess with Real solar system textures and Name like earth moon mars ....??
@FoxAerospaceAdministration you may be able to run the portable edition when it comes out though
@FoxAerospaceAdministration you can't run rtss with this potato
@pedro16797 What happens is that since I have 2Gb of ram, I only have 700 or 600 mb free and I don't know what to do to free
@FoxAerospaceAdministration if you only have 2GB ram you are already on the edge of being able to run the game
Can you make a version optimized for those with low RAM devices? as an example of 2Gb of ram, please I would like to :)
@RealSpaceCreator Oh okay
@HyperPatch
Right, but RTSS has very thick atmosphere at 100km when it shouldn't. 100km is the Karman line. It should be safe to deploy fairings. But when I do in RTSS my rocket flips because of drag. When in fact, that height is already 80% vacuum. In RTSS it's like I'm still flying 20km when I'm more than 100km. That's the issue.
@RealSpaceCreator
1. Doesn't that happen in stock SR2 as well?
2. In RSS the atmosphere wasn't even changed from Droo which is why it has a height of 58km, but that's pretty unrealistic and makes it so you can easily burn up on reentry, which is why I changed it. Of course, this means that I also changed a few other things, like the mean molecular mass, as those three things calculate both the scale height and the atmosphere properties.
@RevolutionAerospace I have 4gb of RAM. It runs good but after a few relaunched it crashes.
@HyperPatch
When you make the camera touch the ground outside of the pad, water noises can be heard. Like Submerging and Emerging sound effects.
At I think 100km my craft foes weird flips when I release the fairings. My best guest is I think atmosohere (air density) at that height is still high. I think you got everything correct from RSS but I also think that the elevation of air densities are not correct. Because in RSS, There's almost no drag 70km+ and the exhaust is already wide. But in RTSS at 70km, my craft does weird reactions as if there's a lot of drag acting on it at that exact height.
@RealSpaceCreator I think that I have fixed the crafts falling to the launch pad in 1.2.1, but that problem always seems to persist for some reason. What do you mean by the water effect appearing on the land surface, can you elaborate?
This isn't RSS with a different texture, it uses techniques for creating the celestial bodies' terrain which are vastly different than RSS', but if you're talking about the main characteristics of the planet (eg. gravity, air density, air pressure...) they're mostly the same. I say mostly because the air pressure is wrong but that will be fixed in the next update. I have no idea why your Falcon 9 hardly lifts off of the surface when this is the case, but it may have to do something with that.
One problem. On start of launch the position of crafts are higher causing it to fall and parts explodes. Also, another bug is the water effect appearing on land surface.
If this is RSS with different texture. Why is my Falcon 9 hardly make lift off even if it's empty in RTSS but works normally in RSS.
This is great. Please fix, or just copy the exact RSS version remove unescessary planets except (Moon and Mars) and only change the textures.
Downloaded it and don't see much terrain at all and everytjing explodes when trying to load crafts
Can you not just upload the updated version as a separate v2
@HyperPatch When is the next update coming?
@HyperPatch I downloaded the 16384x8192 the highest resolution. Thank you for the help!
Well Proud to say 😅 It works perfectly on my Mobile Device!!😃😃😃
@Deanolt I will in the next update.
Change on the normal skybox. This skybox is so dark.
@Jryeem Did you download one of the texture resolutions in the description instead of clicking the download button at the top? If so, then I have no idea why this happens. What you should do is make a spacecraft with a capsule and an astronaut, then go to the capsules tinker panel and set part collisions and collision response to none. Then, after being yeeted, EVA the astronaut and put him where you want to launch your rocket. Then, go to the pause menu and save the launch site. Later, after building a new rocket, and being yeeted, pause and press "relaunch", then select your newly saved launch site.
my rocket is still yeeting at launch why? please tell me.
I NEED THIS SOLARSYSTEM PLEASE FIX IT!!!!!!!!!
@HyperPatch It only downloads 8 bites not the 98 m . And always as an image ;-;
(I tried all of them)
@Bubble89 Try to open it through your Steam or something
is there any way to fix the image download thing?
