I know that air density is a part of the calculation for atmospheric height, but does it affect spacecraft entering the atmosphere in any other way? Does more air density increase the effectiveness of parachutes and aerobraking? How do you calculate air density?

If the density is higher, then you have to make more effort to move, for example when you are underwater you drag is higher than normally

the current air density shows up under "performance" in the game - and there is a slider under "analyze performance" in the builder screen that will show performance at different altitudes(based on air density)

Denser air does increase effectiveness of parachutes as well as drag, and lift! Jet engines will run better as well! Earth surface air density is 1.2 kg/m3 as a point of reference
