Long time no see.

Anyway, for context, I’m planning on purchasing the game on PC when spring sale rolls around, (because I was dumb and didn’t just buy it during winter sale) and I have a couple ideas for planet studio.

The one in particular I’m considering is making the planet Reach from Halo. There are plenty of maps out there of the planet that I can work on. Problem is I know nothing about intricate planet building. So some help with this would be appreciated, or atleast a link to a helpful guide on this would be much obliged.

I would just recommend getting a template and messing around with the size, gravity, biome colors and noises and terrain generation (if it’s a gas giant mess around with the cloud colors and bands/storms noise and if it’s a star change some of the noise types and change the color gradients) as this is easier than that but the downside is that it gives you a more stock looking planet

When you download RSS by HyperPatch you will notice massive amounts of textures in your files (about 400 of them)
Basically they find the satellite imagery on the web and import them onto JNO and put them on the bodies that’s how

@Bayourex yea if i remember correctly planet studios uses a black and white contrasting map format to determine the altitudes of a map, and i’m positive there’s plenty of maps out there to use, but no clue how to actually import the map into planet studio to make it work.

I’ve tried this myself with a project while back I had used a high map and changed the formatting so the terrain system would accept it.
