What happens if you leave the planetary system?
How far can you get? Has anyone tried?

in the default system, nothing happens, you just go on forever. if you download a system with other solar systems, it is possible to travel to them.

it does work, you can try Stellar Neighborhood or my ZenithGalaxy, however you will need an extremely overpowered craft

I don't think it breaks. I remember seeing someone make a galaxy once. You couldn't explore the map very well, you had to right click and drag your way around the map but there truely was a few other solar systems in it you could get to with a tinkered jump drive. Otherwise a traditional rocket would take too long. Even in time warp.
So i can only assume you can venture quite far. Try it

you just go on for all of eternity. Unless you get a interstellar planet pack then you could give interstellar travel a go.
