The forum gets a lot of garbage posts:
- "Hello world" posts
- "I'm going to make something, at some point in the future, maybe, it'll be great..." posts
- "Thanks for the XXXX points" posts
- "I'm bored and I have nothing better to do than make a senseless for post" posts
- "I changed my user name from stupidusername to anotherdifferentstupidusername" posts
Right now this stuff is a minor annoyance but 1) it sets a precedence for what is the appropriate content for this forum, and 2) as the community grows the noise may overwhelm the signal. It would be nice if we could downvote garbage posts and have posts with negative scores automatically hidden. Like Stack Overflow I think it would be reasonable to have a minimum reputation to downvote, downvotes should be anonymous to prevent retaliation and shouting matches, and downvoters should be encouraged to make a constructive comment explaining how the post could be improved.
I'm in huge support of this. Looking through recent suggestions, I already want to just give up based on the amount of reposts and typo-ridden unintelligible nonsense
