As title says. Venn diagram of Linux users and space nerds has quite big intersection I guess ;)

Shouldn't be very hard since you use Unity. You can always release unofficial build first so community can test it (as Arma III guys did).

A native version really is preferable, but If it works well with proton, then at the very least i expect "official" commitment from the devs to test and keep it running on proton. That really shouldn't be too much to ask nowadays, given the sophistication valve has reached with steam play.

Hey there, Ubuntu user here. I'd like to also mention a native Linux version would be nice. As for now, I'll continue trying to set up Proton to run it and see how it does.

Come on Jundroo, Pretty please =) playing on my phone / proton is not great. I honestly play ksp native on Linux more as I get better performance. Trying to land on a foreign body when my machine starts chugging and I lose FPS is not fun. (Or if crashes all together) .

This game just came up on steam with a discount. I would happily pay full price BUT ONLY IF YOU RELEASE A WORKING LINUX BUILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wont buy the windows version and stuff around with Proton. I will never buy a Mac.
Jeeeeeezzz, how hard can it be to target a modern Ubuntu based distro?
I guess KSP is the best option.

Pretty please 😊 i would even buy it a second time on steam to have it run on Linux. Linux users have to advantage of scaling down their desktop environments and free up memory. Great for Sims.

Wow, It's been a while since I created this suggestion. Good to see it's still on first page. Keep it up fellow Linux users. I kinda lost hope SR2 gets Linux release tho. Oh well, let's hope KSP 2 will have native Linux version.

Please add Linux support, it is a shame that this game natively supports Mac but does not support SteamOS. I will be more than willing to buy this game if it gets released on Linux.

I signed up just to upvote this, because I won't be buying until there's at least an experimental Linux build..

... But I can't upvote it because I need 30 points. I don't even know how to GET points. Not like I can do anything but comment on wanting the game to be released on Linux.

I'm willing to bet there are a lot more than 39 people who want it on Linux, but aren't willing to put up with this.

i agree a linux port would be ideal i am stuck playing the android version unless we get a linux port somewhere down the line but right now it seems unlikely unfortunately

I'm able to run it out of the box from Steam using a Proton build meant for Elite: Dangerous (https://github.com/redmcg/wine/releases/tag/ED_Proton_3.16-4_Beta) with what appears to be native, or at least near-native performance. It crashes when it exits, but...that's a relatively minor glitch to worry about, and the only thing really necessary to make it harmless is moving/renaming the Unity bug reporter so as not to spam Jundroo with WINE-related errors.

While I would definitely much prefer to be running a native SimpleRockets2.x86_64, Proton functionality (and devs that don't appear to be overtly hostile to the idea of playing the game via WINE/Proton) is good enough for me.

@Fressabr same, I’ll try that and if it works try to increase performance and make a lutrins installer so we don’t have to go through all this!

@leafs444 I work steam/proton with parameter PROTONUSEWINED3D11 = 1% command%, but I do not know how the performance is compared to Windows, I just use linux.

I've been able to get SimplePlanes to work with PlayOnLinux, but that didn't work with SimpleRockets2. I'll keep trying to test everything I can to make it work, but I can't guarantee anything unless the devs build it for linux.
