After 2 months, I have finished another good craft that I've been wanting to build for a long time. MIDAS-1! On an Atlas Agena A!

(This time I don't recommend using a mobile device for this craft for long periods of time in build mode or just in a long time with it not yet launched in flight mode, as this craft can cause your game to crash in mobile and weak-performance devices)

Craft Info:

MIDAS-1 was the first ever payload launched by an Atlas Agena A, Launched by Atlas 29D on February 26, 1960. The mission was successful until after VECO (Vernier Engine Cut-Off), where the Agena's Inadvertent Staging Destruction System Charges triggered due to an electrical malfunction, and ruptured the Agena and the Atlas's LOX tank dome, then after that the missile tumbled, then reentered the atmosphere and burnt up.
The program's name, MIDAS, is a backronym that stands for the Missile Defense Alert System, and it's designed to detect the heat from an ICBM launch, warning the US about it. It never really got much success, but it paved the way for more advanced successors like the Defense Support Program.

Activation Groups and Inputs:

Atlas-Agena:

AG1: Launch Support Bays

• Simply the clamshell bays on the skirt that close after liftoff for it to become more aerodynamic

AG2: Booster Engines

• Starts the booster engines and its exhaust duct (this action only works once and once you try to turn it on again it won't work even when on)

AG3: Launch Supports

• Executes a code to activate the stage that releases the rocket from the pad, and also lifts up the launch supports in the process

  • Slider 1: Ground Launch Supports
  • Slider 2: Tower Arm

AG4: Sustainer Engine

• Starts the sustainer engine (this action only works once and once you try to turn it on again it won't work even when on)

AG5: Jettison Half Stage

• Executes a code to separate the half stage from the Atlas and create a tumbling effect for it

AG6: Spin Table

• Spins the MIDAS sensor a full revolution every 30 seconds

AG7: Launch Sequence

• Executes the program that would take it to a good trajectory accurate to the real mission before deliberately exploding the Agena

AG10: RCS

• Enables Agena RCS

AG11: Bell 8048

• Enables the engine of the Agena, its gimbal, as well as its exhaust duct (this action only works once and once you try to turn it on again it won't work even when on)

AG12: Ullage Rocket Motors

• Starts up the pair of Ullage motors to give a bit of a push to the Agena to start the Bell 8048 engine
(this action only works once and once you try to turn it on again it won't work even when on)

Pad:

AG3: Launch Supports

• Same as the one from Atlas Agena, but the pad chip controls the launch support arms, and it's controlled remotely

  • Slider 1: Ground Support Arms
  • Slider 2: Tower Arm

AG6: Launch Clearing Arms

• It's basically that structure that can rotate until bars from it hit the Atlas. It's probably a support for when the launch vehicle is being rotated to upright (I could make a mechanism like that but as of now it doesn't work right).

  • Slider 1: Launch Clearing Arms

Notes:

The Sustainer Engine, the Booster Engines and the Bell 8048 engine only ignite once to better match the real thing

There are 2 launch cameras, and 2 cameras on the rocket.

The Interior Camera isn't a real thing on the real craft, it's just something I put to prove that the sensor is in the protective nosecone.

Don't mind this, as it's something I can't remove at the moment:

If you don't want to explode it and just want to orbit it, I've provided a code that you can use to replace the explosion code.

To replace it, grab the instruction that focuses on a part and remove it from the main line of commands, and then grab the activate stage command from the replacement line of code and place it to where the explosion code originally was.

Then you just delete the explosion code and the extra unnecessary code that was attached to the replacement code before usage.

The gray diagonal thing on the launch tower was a net. BUT it doesn't really work like I wanted so I just used it as decoration to add for accuracy.

The small difference of radius between the bottom of the Agena interstage and the top of the Atlas's LOX tank is intentional.

Because, it's real,

so I had to make it just like that since missing/wrong details are an eyesore to me.

The structure in front of the tower is the base structure for the gantry crane (the crane I made on the pad of the SCORE spacecraft craft)

Creator Notes:

I'm just so happy about releasing this craft, because it's something I wanted to release in months! Although it's inaccurate in size, I've decided to not shorten it to 1:1 scale since it's not very historical to me compared to the next craft I'll have: MIDAS-2. I had a promise to myself to only put crafts from historical missions to scale. Sorry, guys. :(

It's more detailed than it ever has been, with more details on the Atlas like some piping, struts, and updated details on the vernier. The Agena's rocket engine is very very detailed to match the real Bell 8048 engine, same with the aft rack to match the real thing, and the tower is so detailed that it's the main reason why it can crash your game. The umbilicals are flexible too.

For the ladder cage, I did base it from the original picture, but I also realized that that same ladder cage is found in like Cell towers,
and more, so, wahoo free ladder to make your replica cell towers
Or structures or something idk yay

Also just realized that I did the launch picture wrong as the fuel tank and the LOX tank is supposed to be white to look chilled but I forgot that

Also I'm sorry but this craft isn't in a 1:1 scale or a perfect 2:1 scale

Also, the sensor isn't like the real one, since i found what it really looks like too late, so I'll just keep the new one.

Enjoy the craft though! Working on the tower alone is harder than working on the rocket!

Thanks for reading the description! I hope you enjoy this craft! Upvote it if you've really liked it!
