First of all, read this. With effects like that, rain wouldn’t really be a huge task. So don’t say it would be. And don’t call this a duplicate, my suggestion for weather includes how it could be done without huge lag. Note that there would be a quality option for weather, so we could change the quality or turn it off completely. There would be clouds, randomly placed (and moving) over most planets. We could have rain (which would cause wind), sandstorms (also with wind), thunderstorms (again, with wind), plain clouds, no rain or anything, maybe even fog! When inside clouds, your visibility would get severely reduced, and a little fogged up. NOTE: THERE WOULD NOT BE WIND MOVING THE CLOUDS, THAT WOULD SERIOUSLY CHANGE THE PHYSICS MODEL! But how would wind work? Easy. Take the code for it from sp, alter it a little to work in sr2, and ta-da! You have wind. We could even have map icons for storms. Nothing like on weather apps, but we would at least have icons to represent storms. And maybe in career mode, if you didn’t have a certain research/tech, you would lose the map in thunderstorms and sandstorms, and couldn’t see the weather from the map. Weather, done somewhat simply.
