The Space Shuttle Challenger was NASA’s second operational orbiter.
This rocket has nine successful missions from 1983 to 1985 before being destroyed 73 seconds after liftoff on January 28, 1986.
The disaster occurred during mission STS-51-L due to a failed O-ring seal in the right solid rocket booster, killing all seven crew members.
