All astronauts have jetpacks, but they have only about 6kg's of fuel, that is not enough for a long journey. But we can refill them, using grappling hook and any spacecraft, even if this spacecraft is small command disc, that weights only about 600g. Austronaut can take infinity fuel by just taking 600g of "spacecraft" with him. It also works in Career mode, and can be used to visit all planets before even unlocking ALI base
