Mid 1940, a prototype of the avro manchester III is in testing, it will enter service in 1942 under the name of lancaster. The avro lancaster was the most commonly produced british bomber by the end of WWII, it is powered by 4 rolls royce merlin III piston engines, the same that powered the spitfire.
This one is loaded at its maximum takeoff weight (I don’t know what it is but on the main DSC runway, it rotates at the end of the runway). It has a crew of 2 pilots, one flight engineer, one aft gunman and a sacrificial bomb watchman.
Takeoff QRH:
Step 1: set slider 1 to -50% (sets flaps to TO position, they really work)
Step 2: set brakes to 100%
Step 3: put thrust up to 50%, activate engines
Step 4: put brakes down to 0% put thrust up to 100%
Step 5: around 80 m/s, pitch full down, tail wil lift of soon, keep aircraft straight
Step 6: at approx 100 metres away from runway edge, pitch full up, aircraft will lift off
Step 7: at 100 metres AGL, level off, put gear up
Step 8: at 120 m/s, put slider 1 to 0%, start climbing gently, don’t pitch up too violently to prevent stalls, you have been warned
Slider 1: flaps
Slider 2 and 3: aft gun (still under experimentation)
Next version will be more detailed
If you’re not happy with it, kamikaze still exists.
Progress on next version: fixed aft cannon, added forward cannon (still can’t shoot).
