The jupiter 2 is a spacecraft made by the united global space force to transport the robinson family and don west to colonize the planet alpha prime, but a saboteur got on and made the robot destroy the communation systems and made the robinsons wake up from cyrosleep, once all of that happened they noticed that they were very off course and heading into the sun, since the main engines could not propel the jupiter out of the suns gravitational pull, don west noticed and suggested to use the experimental hyperdrive to go through the sun, even though without a hypergate they would be thrown anywhere in the galaxy.
