The Cluster II mission, launched in 2000, was a European Space Agency (ESA) mission that utilized a fleet of four identical spacecraft to study Earth's magnetosphere. These spacecraft, launched in two sets of two on Soyuz-Fregat rockets, were the first to make such observations in a formation. The mission's goal was to build a 3D model of the magnetosphere and understand its interaction with the solar wind.
