The Real-Life Prototype:
This build is based on NASA's Cold War-era "Lunar Escape Systems (LESS)" concept . It was designed as a last-resort lifeboat in case the Apollo Lunar Module's ascent engine failed, preventing astronauts from being stranded on the moon.
To save weight, it had no pressurized cabin, no life support systems, and no navigation computers. If things went wrong, astronauts had to siphon fuel from the dead Lunar Module, sit on an exposed metal frame, and manually fly into lunar orbit to catch the Command Module—relying entirely on the few hours of oxygen left in their suits.
This Build (Just for Fun):
I built this in-game purely for fun to see if this hardcore concept actually works. It completely ditches fairings and complex structures. All that's left are two seats, some exposed spherical fuel tanks, and a basic engine. It looks incredibly barebones, but with careful manual flying, it genuinely has enough fuel to get from the lunar surface into a stable orbit.
