VERTICAL TAKEOFF VARIANT
Not much is know on this configuration coming from the 60s-70s out of McDonnell Douglas. This configuration was to be hypersonic cruise vehicle outfitted with two XLR-129 rocket motors and Marquardt scramjets. It was projected to reach speeds up to Mach 12.
This rendition is a single staged spaceplane capable of 50+ tons of cargo to low orbit. AGs are labeled, slider 1 for flaps. It features all moving control surfaces.
Slider 2 for autohover!

@Samps0n Only thing that were tinkered was the VTOL engine's mass because the joints were very floppy. This could have been avoided if I had used a single hinge with multiple control inputs, instead of multiple hinges with each a single control input, but I did not know how to do it at the time. But no, it does not have double the dV. The staging only appears that way because the VTOL engines were separate in staging. The dV between the two should be about the same. Also, on a fundamental level, SSTO is not possible with present-day technologies. It is only possible in this game because the standard solar systems are 1:5 scale of their real-world counterparts.

This vtol version has 2x the Δv of the standard variant. Is this one tinkered? If no, why doesn't the other have a bit more than it does? I'd like to add that I have rarely seen any historical ‘could of been’ space planes that actually held the Δv to accomplish the mission. So that's nothing to take for granted. Congratulations

I have a few words:if not much is known always expect it to be either: A. Actively in use under serious coverups or B. Scrapped.
