Credits!

Credits goes to Alpha Space Technologies for developing the missile. Triton Aerospace's research test bed F-9 can be seen in the pictures, because yes, we do target trainer aircraft.

Instructions!

When you want more of this weapon, always save to subassemblies and drag from there; DO NOT DUPLICATE.

This weapon is compatible with all Alpha Space Technology developed aircraft with 2nd gen Fire Control System. Just select a target on the jet, and deploy ordinance via Activation group powered Fire Control System on board said jet (FCS instructions sold on separate aircraft). The AIM-2A will automatically fly towards to target and detonate upon impact, if within physics range.

Description!

The AIM-2A is a small missile, with big dreams! Being only 2.5 meters long, and 0.3 meters wide, this missile is great for internal weapons bays, and double or even triple pylons! Yet, even with its somewhat small size, it is a long range buster, capable of hitting targets up to 100km, for those long range, but not SUPER long range targets. This missile greatly compliments an AIM-3C loadout, which it is noticeably cheaper than.

This missile also is groundbreaking in its own way. It features the highest lofting altitude to date on any Alpha Space Technologies missile: it flies to over 17000m high before dropping down on the target, which reduces drag loss.

However, unlike most short range missiles, it does not have superb maneuverability, which can be problematic at ultra short ranges. As such, it should not be used under 5km.

Finally, a new "multipathing" feature has been added so you can dodge the missile if you are under 40m AGL. This is a very basic idea of how multipathing works in real jet combat.

Specifications!

Missile Top speed: ~2000 m/s, when launched at 850 m/s, at 16000m.

Mach 1 Rangeband: 5-100km

Max reliable altitude: 15-20km
Max recommended altitude: 17000m

Hit rate: 90% under ideal conditions

Kill rate: 75% (proximity fuse tends to destroy targets but sometimes may only critically damage them)

Insta-kill blast radius: 10m
Effective blast radius: 15m

Recommended Launch Speeds: Mach 0.3 and faster; however, note that different speeds change rangebands.

I downloaded your F4-C plane, but it doesn’t want to launch missiles at the target, I don’t know what to do ;(

@MoTi you need to launch it from one of my jets. Or, attach my Gen 3 Avionics Bay to your jet, which is the Fire control that launches the missile. The missile is guided.

I was never able to launch a single missile from your plane at the target! or switch to manual control mode for each rocket? :)

now create a good plane with these missiles :)

    +1 yesterday
