It still does have the wheel but I set the length scale to '-1.39' so it goes the opposite way.
Can't be used alone because of that. But connect it to a fuel tank and it does look
like there's no wheel, like shown in the second image.
Removed the doors, because if you closed them the wheel would return. But an hinge and a fuel tank can do their job.

well, kind of. the bay isn’t customizable enough to have full creative control over the bay, but the landing gear is definitely going to be fully creative, but when the bay closes the landing gear might intersect the custom landing gear :\

@TestRunner Yeah, I did this because someone asked for a landing gear bay without the lgear in the forums 2 months ago and this was the closest thing I could get. It's not as good as I hoped it would be though.
I tried to use it to make a cockpit to avoid paneling and to reduce part count, like you said, in the fuselage, but it makes things disappear when they clip through it, eventhough its supposedly transparent. Tried to mess with depth mask but to no avail.
But it's still good enough for custom landing gears and other stuff. -
