THOR-DELTA WITH TELSTAR 1

Video of launching the craft

Hello, Hows your day been?
This is my first rocket replica. May I first of all note this is not an exact replica and is just based off Thor-Delta as I have changed a few details for different reasons. Also I don't want to recieve critical comments about details or anything because I built it the way I built it and thats my decision to build it that way. I hope you all understand this, Thankyou.

Thor-Delta

Thor-Delta aka Delta DM-19 was an american booster was used from 1960 to 1962 and was the first member of the Delta family. The first stage was a Thor missile. The second stage is the Delta stage delavoped as a replacement for Able a stage that the US was using in the Vangaurd program. The third stage was a solid rocket motor which I have swapped for a liquid rocket motor in the craft. The upper stage (kick stage) was a upgraded Vangard forth stage using a pressure fed engine design. The Thor-Delta like many early boosters of the United States of America the Thor-Delta was later devaloped into later version of the Delta the latest of which is the Delta IV Heavy. Thor-Delta launched 12 times with only one failure on its maden flight.

Telstar 1

video about Telstar 1
Telstar 1 was the first live television satellite, Launched by the USA the Telstar could transmit live video from the USA to Europe and vice versa. The launching of Telstar 1 was a break though comparible to when the telegram was invented.

Capabilitys.

  • Payload to LDO: at lest 35 metric ton
  • Payload to Geosynchronous orbit: 20 metric ton
  • As a genderal rule of thumb the rocket should be able to get anything you can fit inside the fairing to LDO as long as you arnt messing around with insane ammounts of dead weight.

Notes and disclaimers.

  • The take off is very slow I know this it is not a mistake. Personally I think it looks very cool.
  • Second stage can sometimes start spinning if you shut the engines off and wait. Use fast forward tends to fix this or running the engines at a very low ammount. I tend to just let it spin if its spinning and just make sure that when I start the next burn the rocket is facing the desired direction.
  • As I said before this isn't an exact replica and quite a few details are changed this is intended.
  • The UNITED STATES down the side isn't rounded or anything look just deal with it, I'm sure you mobile users hate high part counts more than not quite perfect letters.
  • The payload Telstar 1 is just a default you may put any payload you want into it.
  • Please do not upload remixes of this, it is very annoying to see things such as your own rocket re uploaded but with a different colour scheme or the engines made OP for no reason.
  • Have fun when using this.
