(Shuttle Craft by Seraku and LonelySpaceGuy)

STS-51-J..

...was the maiden launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis on October 3rd 1985, and like its predecessor Discovery, had its first flight be under the Department of Defense's jurisdiction. While the payload had remained out of public eye for a while, declassified documents since then have revealed the mission had deployed two DSCS III satellites to geosynchronous orbit, which were meant to support globally distributed US military users, designated USA-11 and USA-12 respectively.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DEPLOYING PAYLOAD

1. After reaching orbit and opening payload doors, activate AG9 and set slider 1 all the way UP.

2. Take control of the satellite sandwiched in between the IUS and the front sat.

3. Activate and deactivate AG9 to release the payload.

4. Reactivate AG9 to translate forward using RCS.

5. The TDRS only has a detachment stage for the satellites, so activate the rocket motors and interstage on the IUS manually.

6. After reaching geosynchronous orbit, deactivate AG9 (leave it off) and activate the AGs in order.
