These attachment racks are structural modules meant to be attached to other parts, usually pylons, and are not detachable in flight, nor are they coded. However, they work well with GEN 2 weapons, which feature their own separators. For a more down to earth explanation, think of them as extra storage space, or closet hangers to hold stuff, like weapons.
The yellow strut on each rack is where you attach it to the pylon of the jet.
The Double inline pylon is the smallest and most compact. It allows for two GEN 2 weapons to be attached in line with the pylon extension itself, meaning it has two pylons in a single file line like arrangement.
The Double radial pylon is also relatively compact and allows for two GEN 2 weapons to be attached side by side, radially with respect to the center structure.
The triple pylon allows for 3 weapons to be attached, two radially, and one inline with the center structure.
The "Scorpion" Nonuple attachment rack is for when everyone in the world is screaming at you to not add any more weapons to the jet, otherwise it will collapse on itself, but you just REALLY cant resist that urge to add more weapons. It has 9 total Attachment points, in a convenient 3x3 arrangement. So even if your payloads are far too big to fit in all 9, you can still fit quite a lot of them, as well as having different assortment of weapons, such as carrying both missiles AND bombs. It is a fighter pilot's wet dream, and an aircraft maintenance team's worst nightmare, all wrapped in one big, supreme package.
