Lore

One of the most important abilities of the AAM-35 isn't it's maneuverability, it isn't it's powerful guidance logic, and it isn't it's extreme range. The ability that keeps The Spearhead Family in the lead against it's competitors is it's adaptability, upgradability, and versatility to many environments, regardless of conditions presented against it.
Rokugou Systems has been leveraging this capability very heavily since it's inception. Software updates, hardware changes, and other upgrades have kept the AAM-35 in the lead since it's inception. and this? this is the best of that.
In testing, it showed it could match Triton Aerospace's AAM-30M, the newest version of the AAM-30 and by far the most capable of such. In tests, the AAM-30M and AAM-35C-4 were able to keep within 1 second of targets when launched from the same craft, while the AAM-35C-4 maintained a 10 second lead ahead of the original AAM-35A under the same test.
This shows how far the spearhead has come—able to match it's competitors, and significantly improve on the original, with minimal structural changes.
Extra lore surrounding the Gongaga decal:
In this universe, Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy is actually primarily a book series. Its pretty popular in this universe as well.
Some pilots from the 15th Strike Fighter Squadron (Air Force/F-9C Dragonfly) thought it would be funny to paint Zack Fair saying his iconic line onto the side of one of the AAM-35C's in service. This quickly spread around the squadron, then around the wing, then the base... and eventually found its way up the chain of command to Penelope Patterson, the Right Hand Woman to the CEO of Rokugou Systems.
Now, in typical Penny fashion, she ordered the assembly line to start painting new decals onto missiles. A select few would have joke decals—silly paint jobs that dont have any meaning other than trolling and keeping up morale.
These spread like wildfire within the air force and navy. Aviators and Maintainers would pay other squadrons to have them on inventory. Not because they were better, not because they were more potent, but because they were funny.
Was this intentional? Absolutely not. Did it happen anyway? Yep. Aand just like that, Rokugou Systems would start painting select few missiles on the production line with silly decals, and not just Zack Fair.
