Auto Credit Based on DragonTech's Valkyrie

Valkyrie, a fully automated VTOL aircraft. It has flight mode, program assisted hover mode, and automated targeted landing.

This is a beta release of our project. The craft is fully functional, but it’s possible there are some bugs that we missed. If you have problems or suggestions, let us know so we can fix them for the final release.

Controls

AG 1: Flight mode

Turn on AG 1 to automatically take off. One the takeoff is complete, manual control is engaged, and you can fly it like a normal plane

AG 2: Hover mode

Activate AG 2 to start hover mode. This starts the stabilization program and activated translation mode. The craft can be moved up/forward/sideways with translation mode controls (use keyboard, joysticks, or up/forward/right sliders). Use slider 2 to adjust heading. You don’t need to touch anything other than those controls. When everything is zeroed, the craft will come to a complete hover stop.

AG 3: Autopilot

Activate AG 3 to start the autopilot landing program. If you don’t already have a target selected, the program will ask you to choose a target from the list.

Notes:
  • you can activate autopilot at any time, while grounded, hovering, or flying. The program will figure out what to do. If you are very far from the target, it will switch into automated flight mode until it gets close, if not it will hover the whole way.
  • You can activate AG2 to automatically switch from flight to hover anytime while flying, or activate AG1 while hover to switch to flight mode.
  • The targets options listed will only work in the Juno 2.2 system, because it is targeting various structures within DSC.
  • The vizzy needs to run fast to be stable, It might not work as well on some devices.

    Go for it! I tried to comment the code a lot, but it is still pretty chaotic and messy. There are definitely parts that are more complicated than they need to be. The main control loop is basically a bunch of PIDs. If you have questions about a specific part just lmk. @CaveatEmperor

    Look at the post formatting guide for how to add photos (it is pinned at the top of forums). The video icon is just a clickable image that takes you to the YouTube video, and the “video” clip is just a gif, which can be added the same way as an image. @HurleyAerospaceCompany

    @Tweedle_Aerospace Correct. Realistically though if you were to fly this you wouldn't go full speed and switch to hover, you would slow down before where u want to go. The fixed engines are a lot more powerful too so it's gonna take a while to reverse that. But there could be improvements where we could've made rotators full reverse and 100% throttle. The problem there is that it can be more unstable and less safe.

    Yeah it can take a bit, especially if you are going fast. Hopefully it eventually finished. Was it during the autopilot or just from flight to hover? @Tweedle_Aerospace
