The PGM-17 Thor was a IRBM operated by the US Air Force from 1959-1960. The Thor booster used one Rocketdyne LR-79 engine. The W49 thermonuclear warhead was mounted on top of the Thor booster. The PGM-17 Thor eventually developed into many space launch vehicles, such as the Thor-Able, Thor-Agena, and Thor-Delta.
