The Tupolev Tu-2000 was a hypersonic platform designed to test keystone technologies needed for a Single-Stage-to-Orbit (SSTO) spaceplane. This project would turn out to become the Russian conterpart of the American National Aerospace Plane (NASP) project. Succesors to this vehicle would operate on a powerplant consisting of four turbojets, one scramjet, and two LH2/LOX rockets. The the propulsion system would share the LH2, only expending the LOX for the final push to orbit. The SSTO version was planned to have a MTOW of 280 tons with a a payload capacity of 8 tons. Thus a payload fraction of 2.85%

This recreation weighs at 5570 tons and is capable of carrying 200 tons to orbit on 1:5 scale solar systems, a nominal payload fraction of 3.60%. The powerplant consists of four zero-bypass turbojets and three rockets on kerolox.

The vehicle has poor takeoff characteristics as byproduct of attempting to reduce induced drag and as such, rocket-assisted takeoff is recommended.
