STAR-XCORM1

STAR-XCORM1 is a communications satellite manufactured by STAR Communications Satellite Systems (SCOS) in conjunction with the EAEP North American division (a division of EAEP designed to operate in North America).

The satellite operates in the low MEO (7000 to 9000 km), which gives it a certain advantage because communications are not as slow as they would be in the medium or high MEO.

The satellite was launched by a Hawk Heavy rocket in July 2021; the launch was normal. The satellite successfully reached its operational zone.

History:

The satellite's history dates back to 2004 when NASA wanted a technological communications satellite. NASA contracted STAR Communications Satellite Systems (SCOS) to manufacture one, thus giving rise to the Self-tech Earth Communicator Satellite-1 Project. Everything was going well until 2013 when NASA canceled the contract, leaving STAR Communications Satellite Systems (SCOS) in the process. To avoid losses, she decided to continue the project, but now belonging to the company, and with the company's operations, the satellite became more advanced each year and also received new technologies. The project ended in October 2020.

O projeto terminou em outubro de 2020.
