Dropship version without the apc (reduces parts by 500) for those who require less parts.
Here is a fun little vid of the dropship:
https://www.reddit.com/r/simplerockets/s/BQVdIE0Zoh
Full scale replica of the iconic, UD-4L Cheyenne dropship from aliens.
Ship features:
- full functioning Gatling gun with target tracking
- full functioning, banshee and Zeus rockets
- all weapons will destroy targets
- folding weapon pods and hard points
- vertical takeoff/landing (VTOL) and single stage to orbit (SSTO).
- auto pilot assisted hovering and ship leveling
- auto pilot will adjust thrusters to center of mass with payload changes
- hard-core deorbit and reentry with speeds exceeding Mach 10
- full interiors
Action groups:
AG1 - main engines
AG2 - landing gear
AG3 - cabin door
AG4 - vertical thrusters (VTOL)
AG5 - Hover assist (holds your altitude however you can still change altitude with slider one)
AG6 - deploy weapon, pods and hard points
AG7 - target tracker (gun will autonomously follow your current target)
AG8 - fire Gatling gun
AG9 - fire banshee rocket
AG10 - fire Zeus rocket
AG11 - exterior lights
AG12 - cabin lights
AG13 - open and close main cargo ramp
AG14 - planet scanner (gives basic information on a targeted celestial body)
Controls:
- pitch/roll/yaw as standard
- translation controls: if you turn translation controls on you have superior control over VTOL flight. Pitch moves ship forward/back. Roll is left/right. And translation yaw (game calls this EVA turn) rotates the ship left and right.
- throttle is main engines
-slider 1 is VTOL thrusters
-slider 2 and 3 manually controls gun turret.
Basic flight information:
- hovering (VTOL): when the vertical thrusters are turned on the ship, automatically attempt to keep itself level, you can use regular controls in this mode, however switching to translation mode will give far superior control over the ship during vertical flight. Also keep in mind while the ship does auto adjust for the center of mass. It will not compensate for aerodynamic characteristics of the ship; start out with smaller movements in translation mode to be sure the ship is stable. You can gradually increase your input. If you are too aggressive immediately, you could find the ship may start to roll.
- if you are in vertical flight/vertical thruster mode, you can still use the main engines to give yourself a great speed boost, however after speeds become greater than 500 m/s. You will find yourself fighting with the auto leveler. When at high speeds. Be sure the vertical thrusters are turned off.
-when flying at very great speeds, it is beneficial to have the lock heading turned on. Using the locked headings, including lock periapsis on reentry is critically important to keep the ship stable when entering at 3000 or greater meters per second. You can easily re-enter at 5000 m/s or higher however, ensure your trajectory isn’t too steep or you may not have enough time to pull up.
Weapon info:
- when using the rockets, the pods can only be deployed at speeds under 400 m/s. The Rockets are easiest to use when in vertical thrust mode as you can target something and then lock heading on target. This makes the rockets very accurate. If you already have the weapons deployed and you increase speeds to over 400 m/s they will automatically retract.
the Gatling gun can be manually controlled using slider two and slider three, however, it’s ultra accurate. If you have the target tracking turned on and have a target selected. Its effective range is approximately 1 km.

Love this whole project.just trying to figure out how to make it more maneuverable in vtol but awesome work dude.
