Le Fouga CM.170 Magister est un avion d'entraînement à réaction biplace français des années 1950, développé et fabriqué par l'avionneur français Fouga. En raison de fusions industrielles, l'avion a été connu sous le nom de Fouga CM.170 Magister, Potez (Fouga) CM.170 Magister, Sud Aviation (Fouga) CM.170 Magister et Aérospatiale (Fouga) CM.170 Magister, selon l'endroit et quand ils ont été construits.

En 1948, le développement a commencé à Fouga sur une nouvelle conception d'avion d'entraînement primaire qui exploitait la nouvelle technologie de propulsion à réaction. La conception initiale a été évaluée par l'armée de l'air française (Armée de l'Air, AdA) et, en réponse à sa détermination que l'avion manquait de puissance suffisante pour ses besoins, a été agrandie et a adopté une paire de turboréacteurs Turbomeca Marboré. Premier vol le 23 juillet 1952, la première commande de fabrication du type est reçue le 13 janvier 1954.

The Fouga CM.170 Magister is a French two-seater jet trainer from the 1950s, developed and manufactured by the French aircraft manufacturer Fouga. Due to industrial mergers, the aircraft was known as Fouga CM.170 Magister, Potez (Fouga) CM.170 Magister, Sud Aviation (Fouga) CM.170 Magister and Aérospatiale (Fouga) CM.170 Magister, depending on where and when they were built.

In 1948, development began at Fouga on a new design of primary trainer aircraft that exploited new jet propulsion technology. The initial design was evaluated by the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air, AdA) and, in response to its determination that the aircraft lacked sufficient power for its needs, was enlarged and adopted a pair of Turbomeca Marboré turbojets. First flight on July 23, 1952, the first order to manufacture the type was received on January 13, 1954.
