The Hypersoar was a Hypersonic Cruise Vehicle (HCV) developed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as part of the Darpa Falcon Project. Being a waverider, its shape would take advantage of compression lift resulting as a byproduct of shockwaves at hypersonic speeds. The vehicle was projected to achieve speeds in excess of Mach 12 and be able to travel across any two points around the globe in under two hours. It would do this by skipping in and out of the atmosphere, dipping in a firing its scramjets, and climbing back out to avoid being burnt up in the atmosphere. The project would later be acquired by DARPA
This rendition weighs 2119 tons and is capable of bringing at least 100 tons to orbit in a single stage. The powerplant consistes of six turbojets and two kerolox rocket engines.
