Long March 12A ( CZ-12A ) is a new generation of reusable medium liquid carrier rocket developed by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. As a derivative model of Long March 12, its core design goal is to realize the recovery and reuse of the first-stage rocket.
Basic parameters
- Diameter: 3.8 meters ( the same as Long March 12, it is China's first 4 meter single core rocket to break through the railway transportation limit of 3.35 meters ).

- Total length: approx. 62 m, equivalent to 20 stories high, two-stage tandem configuration without booster.

-Takeoff mass: about 430 tons, which is the single-core rocket with the largest takeoff mass in active service in China.

- Fairing: it can be equipped with 5.2 m or 4.2 m diameter, and supports the launch of single satellite and multi-satellite in different orbits.
Power system
- Level 1:
It is equipped with seven Long Yun ( LY-70 ) liquid oxygen methane engines developed by Kyushu Cloud Arrow, with a single sea level thrust of about 785,000 N ( 78.5 tons ) and a total thrust of about 5,495,000 N ( 549.5 tons ). The engine adopts gas generator cycle, supports bidirectional swing of ± 8 degrees, has thrust adjustment range of 65 % -105 %, and is capable of multiple starts, with design reuse times exceeding 50.

- Level 2:
It is speculated that a YF-209V vacuum version liquid oxygen methane engine ( developed by the Sixth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group ) will be adopted, with a vacuum thrust of about 960,000 N ( 96 tons ), supporting secondary start and a vacuum specific impulse of about 342 seconds.
Carrying capacity
- Low Earth orbit ( LEO ): not less than 12 tons ( consistent with Long March 12 ).

- Sun-synchronous orbit ( SSO, 700 km ): not less than 6 tons.
