@LingDonYao I think the details were a little different (The Command module was launched separate from the lander and they rendezvous in orbit). I read it somewhere, but I can't quite remember where.

I believe it would have used a seperate launch of a dockable centuar much like the Agena and gone to the moon that way. Not with massive landing legss but still a cool creation. The lander was going to be open cockpit too.

IIRC, this was a real thing. If the Apollo project didn't pan out, they planned on using the an upgraded Gemini as a backup.
