AIM stands for Air Interception Missile.

Credit goes to Triton Aerospace for allowing the use and modification of his guidance computer, and to Alpha Space Technologies for developing the missile itself.

When you want more of this weapon, always save to subassemblies and drag from there; DO NOT DUPLICATE.

Description!

The AIM-3B is the second variant in the AIM-3 series, and is identical in performance and maneuverability to the AIM-3A. It is still the EXTREMELY maneuverable, fast, and hard hitting missile like its predecessor.

HOWEVER, it also features several new features in comparison to its former self. The AIM-3B is built to be fired with jets carrying the GEN 2 Fire Control System by Alpha Space Technologies, a revolutionary chip developed in conjunction with Triton Aerospace and Fronolov. This new chip, although separate from the missile, gathers and organizes weapons by the loadout on the jet and type of weapon selected. This allows for a specific type of weapon to be locked (for example, the AIM-3B), and can be fired off in quick succession against multiple targets, something not possible with the GEN 1 Fire Control System, nor the AIM-3A.

In addition to that, the AIM-3B also has new launch code that allows it to speed away from the aircraft before maneuvering. The AIM-3A did not have this, and would occasionally smash into the launching jet, destroying both in the process. Obviously not ideal. Finally, the new AIM-3B, to work with the physical and coding architecture around the GEN 2 system, features its own separator. This is meant to be attached to pylons on other jets that do NOT have separators on those pylons (since the missile already has one, a second one is not needed). This also allows for attachment on double and triple ejector racks, which is a huge plus!

The AIM-3B retains many of the amazing raw performance stats of today's AIM-3A, with the new, smart, innovative systems of tomorrow, allowing it to dominate the battlefield for generations to come.

Known bugs/Issues⚠️

  • At speeds above Mach 4.5, when in external storage, the missile's separator will begin to overheat and will explode if left exposed too long to the hypersonic airstream.
