The M-108A1 is an improvement upon the original Wolverine tank. Upgrades to the turret include a pintle mounted machine gun, thermal designator, and fairing barrel in place of the prior model's inlet design. The chassis drive system has been upgraded for better traction and control. The tank itself has also been upfitted with reactive armor plating; in the event of a direct hit, this plating will absorb the impact of the incoming ordinance. This is in addition to the shaped charge fencing that has been installed around the power plant and magazines.
