The first flight of the Falcon 9 "Full Thrust" configuration, also known as Falcon 9 v1.2, took place on December 22, 2015.

This mission, designated SpaceX Flight 20, launched 11 Orbcomm OG2 satellites from Cape Canaveral SLC-40. It was the first time a Falcon 9 first stage was successfully landed after orbital flight.

The "Full Thrust" version of the Falcon 9 represented a significant upgrade over the previous v1.1, featuring increased payload capacity and the capability for first-stage reusability. The first stage of the Falcon 9 Full Thrust was equipped with a larger liquid oxygen tank and subcooled propellants, increasing the amount of fuel and thus improving performance by 33%.

The second stage was also extended to carry more fuel.
During the December 22, 2015, launch, the first stage successfully separated and landed back at Cape Canaveral's Landing Zone 1.

This marked a major milestone in SpaceX's efforts to develop reusable rockets. The first stage of the Falcon 9 Full Thrust, designated B1019, was later tested with a static fire but was not reused for another launch, according to a SpaceX blog. It is now on display outside SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, California.
