Sputnik-1 is the first man-made satellite. It is made of aluminum sphere, 58 cm in diameter and 83.6 kg in weight. It has four whip antennas and scientific instruments. On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union launched at Baikonur Space Center. After three weeks of launching, the signal was sent out. After more than three months in orbit, it turned around the earth for more than 1400 times, and finally fell into the atmosphere and disappeared. Sputnik I is a product of the space Enlightenment era and a symbol of space competition during the cold war.
