Lander from the movie Interstellar (or almost from the movie)

As in the case of the ranger, this lander was executed with some amendments and improvements made by GRYPHON Corporation in cooperation with NASA

The Lander is a multi-purpose lander used for both cargo transportation and colonization missions. Its main feature is 6 thermonuclear engines powered by two compact tokamaks.

How to fly?

"Slow down, racer" is an important point. For takeoff, use the vertical engines (they are signed). As soon as you reach the desired altitude, activate the main engines and turn off the vertical engines. When entering Earth orbit, it is recommended to keep the speed below 1500 m / s, because, let's be honest, the aerodynamics of this lander is something between a flying axe and a flying tin can. When descending into the dense layers of the atmosphere, you should also not exceed this threshold. To dock, activate the maneuvering thrusters(I had to make them very powerful, since in the movie they could rotate an entire orbital station), and for docking, use one of the two Docking Ports. For braking in the atmosphere, you can use the Lander body itself or vertical engines.

Enjoy your flights, friends

@IMULAerospaceIndustries A spacewalk is not provided, the doors on the lander are too complicated and would significantly increase the number of parts. Try using the modification from @JNOgeek with the tailgate.

Thank you this is an amazing replica and it have low part count and I appreciate your work. Interior and outside. You manage to make me happy.

    Keep going the good work

@GryphonCorp it's fine I edited it to have a cargo bay at the back, shrank the gyro with part modifier and got rid of the inner doors. Exterior is the same, with the interior being slightly modified. I'm actually test flying the new one now to make sure it still works. So far so good.

@tommypynchon49 The gyroscope is already installed, take a close look at the center of gravity of the model, it's amazing that you couldn't notice such a large detail.

Well done! This literally made me go back and rewatch Interstellar yesterday, for the first time in a while, and that movie always guts me emotionally.

It's a masterpiece, Interstellar. I think it deserves to be listed among the best films in history, especially from a technical standpoint. There's a book called The Science of Interstellar by Kip Thorne (he was the science consultant for the movie), and I highly recommend it. Audiobook it if necessary.

Anyway thanks for the sweet craft!

I wonder how many hours go into making such a craft.

BTW You should consider installing a gyroscope.

Next, if you could just program a vizzy that lets us pick a planet or moon, click a couple buttons, and sit back while the rocket flies, that would be totes tits. :)

This guy did that, it's pretty sweet: https://www.simplerockets.com/c/iM9KjM/Auto-Vizzy-USP-01-Universal-Space-Probe

@Prusiadash88 Yes, I know about this problem, but unfortunately, that's exactly how he's presented in the movie. The only significant difference is the absence of lower windows.

It looks amazing. You did a great job recreating it but, I do have to say that the forward visibility is uh… problematic

@Omba It's an interesting idea, I've already thought about creating something like this and it's likely to take some time.

Nice lander, id love to see a lander/space plane with a cargobay accessible to most vehicles (of course small enough to fit in it, i just mean one put in a place were it can be driven into or so)

@Grimik “It is… currently basically scraps. We made sure the internal airlock closed, how did that happen? The notification did not sound.”

@randomguy6928 Hello, we have examined the "black box" of your Lander (if I am not mistaken, number 7). Based on the data we have, the internal airlock was opened during undocking, which caused depressurization and destroyed the fuel tanks of the vertical engines. This is a gross violation of safety regulations and is not a warranty case if everything is observed on our part.

Did the emergency notification system on the Lander work when undocking? How badly is the Lander damaged at the moment?
