The Atlas V is a space launch vehicle that has been flying since 2002. Originally, the Atlas V was operated by the US Air Force, but starting in 2007, it was operated by ULA. The Atlas V has many different configurations, but this craft is based on the Atlas V 401. Its first stage is a CCB (Common Core Booster) and it uses one RD-180 engine. The second stage is a Common Centaur and it uses one RL10C-1 engine. The fairing is mounted on top of the Centaur, and the payload sits inside the fairing.
