Description
The F-1 Simple Sabre is a 1950's era style light jet, based on the combined designs of the F-86 Sabre and Lim-5p, with enhancements and extra modifications to represent Alpha Space Technologies' decades old commitment to performance, innovation, and excellence! Featuring 4x 27mm autocannons, and up to 4 modern missiles (2 with default loadout), as well as a user friendly primary flight display, and excellent roll rate, this jet is very user friendly. It excels at high speed dogfights, as well as an affordable training platform, and is best used by the numbers as they are very cheap compared to traditional, larger afterburning supersonic jets. This jet is more of a hybrid. It excels at subsonic speeds, and can go supersonic when necessary
Specifications
Max Speed (clean): Mach 1.6
Max speed (dry mode): ~290 m/s (Mach 0.845)
Cruise altitude: around 10,000m
Max recommended altitude: 16,000m
Max range: 1600 km (~1000 miles)
With two 500kg Drop tanks: ~2100kmMax turnrate: It honestly really depends on the load. Max load will only get you about 40°/sec @ Mach 1.06, while being surprisingly sluggish at slow speeds. However, at low fuel and no payload, it can easily exceed 100°/sec.
Max rollrate: varies, but tops out at over 500°/sec. SABRE ROLL!🔥
Max payload: ~2 metric tons (~4000 pounds)
Pylons: 4 attachment points (you can use weapon racks to increase this but i really do not recommend it as it IS a light fighter and rests pretty close to the ground).
Radar range: 50km (its a 50s jet pluh)
Features
- NEW proof of concept for future modular smart drop tanks, which detach from jet automatically when fuel is spent.
- Four punishing BK-27 Mauser cannons, inspired by the F-86 F-2 variant's famous 4x rapid fire FMC T-160 autocannons, which fired over 1500 20mm shells per minute per gun!
- All flying tail (stabilators)
- SABRE ROLL!🔥
Known Bugs/Issues⚠️
Landing can prove somewhat tricky with payload attached, as the landing gear isnt very tall, requiring lots of care.
at max load, plane can be very sluggish at low speeds, requiring a great deal of care when taking off and landing, to prevent accidentally smashing into the ground. Because of technical difficulties🙄, we were unable to implement landing flaps, further compounding the issue of low speed handling.
