The Atlas V is a space launch vehicle that has been flying since 2002. Originally, the Atlas V was operated by the US Air Force, but starting in 2007, it was operated by ULA. The Atlas V has many different configurations, but this craft is based on the Atlas V 551. Its first stage is a CCB (Common Core Booster) and it uses one RD-180 engine. The second stage is a Common Centaur and it uses one RL10C-1 engine. Also, it has 5 GEM 63 boosters attached to the sides of the first stage. The fairing is mounted on top of the first stage, and the centaur and payload sit inside the fairing.
