Orion V SSTO

My second non-tinker SSTO. I was thinking what to name this SSTO, then I looked at the core stage, it looks like Saturn V but smaller. The command pod looks like Orion without docking port and windows. So I named it "Orion V".

how to use this rocket properly

How To Launch

• Lock the heading.

• Full throttle input.

• Activate the stage.

How To Get Into Orbit

• Do a 75° gravity turn at 5km.

• Second gravity turn at 15km. 45°.

• Third gravity turn at 30km. 30°.

• Throttle down to 0% when the apoapsis is 125km.

• Throttle up to 100% when the time to apoapsis is 30 seconds. Also lock heading to prograde.

• Set pitch to -15° if the time to apoapsis is over 60 seconds.

• Cutoff when the periapsis is 100km. You can see here the periapsis is 800km too high, but it still have some fuel.

how to deorbit

• Simple, just burn retrograde.
