Orion OA-02X “Experimental”

Developed in secret during the height of the 1965 Velgrad–Bangladesh conflict, the OA-02X "Experimental" is a high-altitude light bomber prototype built by Orion AeroWorks. Small in profile but ambitious in design, it was envisioned as a testbed for advanced bombing operations above the reach of most enemy interceptors.

The OA-02X features a slim, streamlined fuselage with twin engines mounted beneath its broad wings, optimized for quiet, sustained high-altitude flight. Though not especially fast and with limited maneuverability, it was designed to operate well above conventional engagement altitudes, using altitude and stealth over speed or agility. A retractable solar panel mounted on the dorsal fuselage provides supplemental power for onboard systems, allowing it to remain aloft for extended periods during reconnaissance or loiter missions.

While it carries only a modest payload in an internal bomb bay, the OA-02X’s high operating ceiling and precision delivery made it a promising concept in the evolving doctrine of strategic light bombardment. Only one prototype was ever constructed, but it became a vital stepping stone in Orion AeroWorks' survival and innovation, thanks to continued support from the Technate of Velgrad’s military procurement program.
