Droo Defence Force X-82 Saber combat shuttle (light variant only armed with lasers)
Tasked to defend the colonies, the combat shuttle is the tip of the spear. Armed with wing-mounted lasers. It’s a hypersonic SSTO capable of atmosphere/space flight with VTOL capability and vectored main engines. Crew 2, passengers 2.
X-82 improvements over the X-81:
- Main engines upgraded to CW ARTEMIS drive.
- Lasers can now track a target in an 80x160-degree cone in front of the ship.
- X-82 now has main engine vectored thrust capability.
- Cockpit facelift
- Ship is now usable in career mode with all weapons (previously lasers made X-81 invalid for career).

Controls:
-Pitch/roll/yaw - as default (thrust vectoring is automatically controlled with pitch when activated)
-Translate up - move forward/reverse (VTOL)
-Translate right - move left/right (VTOL)
-Translate right on left side (aka EVA turn) - turn ship left/right (VTOL)
-Throttle - main engines
-Slider 1 - VTOL vertical thrust
-Slider 3 - camera zoom
-Break - wheel brakes
Flying Tips:
-thrust reversing during landing (if doing a jet landing) can be acomplished by having the VTOL engines on (quickly switching to translation mode) and using the translation reverse thrusters to slow down.
-when using the X-82 as a jet, you can have heading locked or unlocked (will work either way). Make sure AG4 level assist is turned off as the auto leveler will make turning difficult. In most cases when flying like a jet you will want AG5 (hover) also off.
-when in VTOL (AG2) mode AG5 hover assist is very useful as it attempts to hold current altitude. You can still change altitude with hover assist active by manually changing slider 1. AG4 level assist will keep the wings and nose level. So when in VTOL, action groups 2, 4, 5 should be on in most situations.
-flying in space can be accomplished exactly like a rocket, use heading locks and make sure Vertical trusters (VTOL) are off.
-when doing a task such as docking use RCS as normal, however you can also use VTOL mode (RCS must be turned off), make sure the level assist and hover assist (AG 4, AG 5) are turned off. Note that VTOL translation controls are different than normal RCS controls (see above controls). Also be careful as the VTOL thrusters are 100 times more powerful then RCS thrusters.
-when thrust vectoring is on, it is automaticlly controlled with the pitch input. Use a gentle touch as it can make the ship extremely maneuverable. You can also give quick bursts of throttle when vectoring to make extreme changes to the ships angle of attack.
-when flying on Sergeea don’t exceed 200m/s untill over 50,000 m, or the wings could fail due to drag stress.
-the lasers will track targets. Select your target and turn on target tracking. The tracking is in a frontal arc/cone.
