[*If you want to download an improved version of this craft with more stability at warp speed, please checkout the XWIA-02.]

The XWIA-01 is the first of a series of warp capable spacecraft. This small yet very fast vessel can travel from one end of the solar system to the other in a matter of hours. The smaller detachable SSTO this vehicle carries has enough delta v to travel to any planet in the system.

Unlike the first fusion propelled Warp Capable Interplanetary Vehicle model, the ion engines of this new and advanced spacecraft provide more thrust with less fuel consumption. The enormous energy demand of this warp drive however require a set of advanced high energy batteries that cannot be made in stock game.

One bug that this craft still has and potentially the game itself it that the SSTO will lose command over the warp drive if you re dock with the warp ring in orbit. If you switch to the control chip of the warp ring, if you activate the warp drive, the SSTO will detach itself due to the high acceleration. I will make a post about this bug after I upload this craft.

@supercraftyjj the SSTO has a docking port on its nose that is attached to the warp ring. Click on the docking port and select the undock button.

I have one question, how do I detach the SSTO?

Tested this, and nearly smashed into the side of Cylero after flying at 3Mm/sec towards it (via setting Cylero into the prograde position) but unfortunately the off center Center of Thrust made it remarkably difficult to control without using time warp to reset the orientation, which is the reason I could not hit Cylero but missed by 150km in less than a hour from Droo orbit.

I will be uploading the XWIA-02 tomorrow. This new version will have improved maneuverability as well as stability. If anyone knows how to find the upload ID of an uploaded model please let me know so I could do a redirect.

@TopSecret2 I worked on a version where the SSTO docks by its rear larger docking port to the front of the warp ring. The problem is even worse since not only does the game not recognize the smaller craft as part of the entire vessel, it shakes violently and it explodes when I turn on the warp drive. I even tried separating the Docking ports with a decoupler. If I use the stack separator in its normal direction it remains attached to the larger ring. And if I flip the separator, the entire craft wobbles every time I turn. I will be releasing another version that has more maneuverability and more stability at warp speed. But this will be the last model I will make that uses a separate dockable warp ring. This is a problem with the game itself.

I wouldn’t say that the detachment of the SSTO from the warp ring is due to a glitch; given someone would probably want to cover the docking port with an interstage as a “sleeve” to another spacecraft incoming from the ground, then it’s not surprising that at 250km/s^2 acceleration the docking port comes separated. How about pushing the SSTO?
